How to get there: by bus or train. The small town of Chodová Planá is best known for the Chodovar Brewery, which is the oldest in the West Bohemian region. The first written records relating to Chodová Planá date back to 1573. It is nonetheless obvious that beer had been brewed in the town long before that time. The original 14th century lager cellars, carved in rock, are still used to complete the fermentation process of the special local lager and provides proof of the long history of Chodová Planá. In a section of the brewery cellars, you will find a small brewing industry museum and a large restaurant. They are accessible via a 40-meter passageway leading through the solid rock; in the town center. Visitors can take a look inside the rooms where the beer completes its fermentation in large barrels.
