Karlovy Vary (Karlsbad) – 50 km from Mariánské Lázně. The biggest spa of the Czech Republic. The most importent is the Hotspring which temperature is 72oC. You can visit some colonades, dring the hot springs or shop (the liqueur Becherovka, wafers, porcelain or Moser glass.
Františkovy Lázně (Franzensbad) – 40 km from Mariánské Lázně. This spa town evokes the impression of the peaceful place. Františkovy Lázně is world-known for the treatment of women´s diseases and the blood circulation disorders. This spa presents the early classical style, which is completely different from the Mariánské Lázně character. It is the smallest spa-town of the western Bohemia, but with many parks.
Cheb (Eger) - 35 km from Mariánské Lázně. You must visit the lokal square with a group of 11 buildings forming „Špalíček“ – it is the real proof of medieval architecture. Those are separated by the narrow alley. These houses were established in 15th century for businessmen. This town has about 30.000 inhabitans and a stormy past. The Slavic Teritory was here till about the 11th century, then the town was a part of the German Empire and it became the part of the Czech lands in 1322. In the 25th of February 1634 the imperial General Albrecht von Waldstein was killd in the house where district museum is now.
Kladská – 12 km from Mariánské Lázně. Northely from Mariánské Lázně is situated the natural reservation Kladská. You can také a walk through the local instructional path, which is 1,3 km long and open to public all year round. In the past the English king Edward VII. used to come here.
Plzeň (Pilsen) – 70 km from Mariánské Lázně. The metropole of the western Bohemia, comercial, cultural and social centre of the region, with the industrial gigant SKODA and above all the world-known brewery Pilsner Urquell. Just the visit of the beer museum with beer tasting and the real Czech kitchen tasting in the biggist alehouse „Na Spilce“ belongs to unforgerable experiances.
Praha (Prag) – 180 km from Mariánské Lázně. The metropole of the Czech Republic which ist call as the mother of towns or „The Golden Prag“. The visit of Hradčany with the St. Vitus Cathedral and The Golden Street, The Royal route, The Venceslas and the Old town Square, The Jewish Town and many other historical jewels belong to the most attractive touristic sights in the world.
The Monastery Teplá – 12 km from Mariánské Lázně. This monastery was founded in the 12th century by Hroznata. The history of the monastery is closely connected with the history of Mariánské Lázně - Mariánské Lázně was founded in the 19th century by monastery Teplá. The monastery belongs to the Premostratensians even in the present time and you can find here lots of memories on Hroznata´s period. Among other historical buildings we should mention The Church of Annunciation of Our Lady from 1197 – 1232. It is a late-roman building with a basilica. The monastery´s library was built in 1902 and it contains almost 100.000 books, where the oldest one dates to the 9th century.
Castle Kynžvart – 12 km from Mariánské Lázně. The oldish baroque property was rebuild in years 1820 – 1833 for the chancellor Klement Václav Lothar prince von Metternich-Winneburg. The castle is a sporadic representative residence in vienna´s clasicism and empire style. The prince Metternich (1773 – 1859) was an Austrian public chancellor and a prominent figure of the european political scene in the first half of the 19th century. A large quantily of art objects, collections of coins, medals, china, weapons and renowned chancellor´s library with unique manuscripts and first-prints were collected in Kynžvart during his life here.
Castle Bečov nad Teplou – 23 km from Mariánské Lázně. The castle was founded in the 13th century. On the highest point of the rock there is the gothic castle, which was enriched with the stone portals and wall paintings during the renaissance reconstruction. Below the castle there stands chateau from the 18th century, which has already the renaissance core. The excursion including visit of the castle, the chapel, library, the expositions in the castle and the garden of the castle.
